Southend Treatment and Recovery Service (STARS) - The Forward Trust
About this service
Southend Treatment and Recovery Service (also known as STARS) is delivered by The Forward Trust alongside partners Open Road. The service helps people aged 18 or over who are experiencing challenges with their use of drugs and/or alcohol or people who are impacted indirectly because a significant other is experiencing these challenges (it doesn’t matter if the significant other is not ready to get support themselves).
Services delivered at our Southend hub include:
- One-to-one and group support.
- Health checks and testing for blood-borne viruses, including Hepatitis C.
- Detox help.
- Medication-assisted treatment and naloxone dispensing.
- A needle exchange service.
- Dedicated outreach team to support homeless and rough sleeping clients.
- Dedicated criminal justice team.
- Counselling provision.
- Support from peers who have been through similar experiences.
- Ongoing recovery support, including SMART recovery groups and Forward Connect meetings.
- Specialist services to support young people through our partner, Open Road, which is delivered in the community (not the hub).
- Transitional specialist service for 18–29-year-olds delivered in partnership with Open Road.
We also deliver a women's only coffee morning for our female clients every Thursday between 10:30am and 12pm.
