Knowing what others have gone through can help you deal with your situation.

Anything in moderation is fine

Firstly I am a regular user of cannabis and smoke it pretty much daily which I’ll admit is too much, but I don’t believe in the whole scare factor and know this site is to advise, not tell you what you can and can’t do. I have dabbled with other drugs as most teens do and a lot of people who will read this do. I’m not anti-drugs and do believe that anything in moderation is fine with the obvious exceptions of heroin and crack and I want to share my experiences with other people who are thinking of or have recently taken drugs.

Although the government may say the opposite most drugs aren’t actually addictive and can be as safe as going for a walk in the park however as with anything that alters your mind you must be sensible. As with alcohol everyone can have bad experiences at some point. So to make sure you have a fun but more importantly safe time if you dabble with illegal substances (I am not condoning the use of illegal drugs but people will take them whether you like it or not) here’s a little advice;

1. Make sure you know what you’re taking and have a fairly good idea of the effects. Research the drug on the internet, there are many sites that can offer advice from previous users or sites such as this one.

2. Make sure you know the correct dosage and take a little less than that, especially with drugs such as ketamine, ecstasy, lsd or mushrooms as the effects may be too intense for you to handle.

3. If you are a first time user try to have someone around who has done the drug before and has some knowledge about it.

4. Don’t take a drug if you’re nervous about it as most drugs effects are based on your current mood therefore being nervous can give you unwanted effects.

5. Do not mix drugs together especially with alcohol.

6. This is the most important of all the things I will say. Do not think you can take a drug regularly and think you won’t become dependent. As I have found with cannabis although it isn’t physically addictive it can easily become something you do when you feel down or stressed due to it easily becoming a means of escape and trust me thats not an easy habit to get out of. I am currently cutting down on smoking cannabis due to the fact its become my way of dealing with life’s stresses. However I am not going to stop smoking it all together due to it being something I enjoy. As I said at the start, in moderation it shouldn’t do you any harm in the same way that having a few beers every so often wont do you much harm. Just be sensible and responsible. The main problem with drugs isn’t the drug but it is in fact the user.

Thank you for reading, I hope someone benefits from my advice.
